New Think! Road safety campaign resources released

New Think! Road safety campaign resources released

A recent survey revealed that 67% of children get fewer than 2 hours of road safety education in their whole time at school! This worrying finding makes it all the more important to take every opportunity to ensure that road safety is one of the key life skills learnt by children and young people at the different stages of development, school transition and routines for going out and about safely.

To help schools and teachers highlight the dangers of the road and encourage best practice for children of different ages, the long-running THINK!  campaign is producing a range of new education resources.

The first phase of resources, which are available online now, covers the 3 to 6 age group and includes:

  • 10 engaging and easy to follow lesson plans
  • 2 new films created jointly with school children – a documentary-style film follows a group of children as they act out how to cross the road safely, while a second film follows another group of children on their different journeys to school.
  • a new road safety song, featured in the second film, includes top tips for getting to school safely.

Coming soon…

The next 2 phases of Think! educational resources, for ages 7 to 12 and 13 to 16, will follow in the new year.
