Safe Network safeguarding event

The Safe Network is running a free, safeguarding event in February for the voluntary and community sector and CAPT will be facilitating a workshop on accidents and child development.

The event called Risk, Reality and Reform: the Third Sector and Safeguarding is taking place on 13 February 2013 at the National Transport Museum in Coventry.

The accidents and child development workshop will address the underlying causes of serious childhood accidents and practical interventions for practitioners working with children, young people and families.

Overall the event provides the opportunity to:

  • Explore the changing environment in terms of government policy on children’s safeguarding
  • Hear the latest on Disclosure and Barring and Working Together
  • Hear about emerging practice and implementation linked to reform
  • Develop a deeper understanding of Communities, Troubled Families and Children at Risk
  • Catch up with the latest from Safe Network and share understanding of the support needs within the voluntary and community sector

The event is aimed at:

  • Frontline children and young people’s voluntary and community sector organisations
  • Directors, Deputy and Assistant Directors, Team leaders and Heads of Integrated and Targeted services;
  • Commissioners and Partnership managers
  • LSCB Chairs, Business managers, Safeguarding managers and Lay members,
  • VCS reps on LSCB’s, Health and Wellbeing Boards or Children’s Partnership Boards
  • Safe Network champions and key partners

The Safe Network

In early 2011 CAPT's Making the Link project joined forces with the Safe Network - a joint programme with the NSPCC and Children England which provides tailored safeguarding support to the voluntary and community sector. Our involvement will strengthen Safe Network’s ability to support local community groups in preventing serious accidents to children.
